The Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center is seeking 3 student assistants / interns to lead activities and provide guidance in the area of writing for school-aged students in Grades 5 – 12.
If this position is of interest to you, please read on!
The Spring 2025 Dates: Wednesdays 2:30-4:30 pm: 2/27, 3/6, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17
The position will be with The Write Spot. This unique club is sponsored by a generous donor who recognizes that school curriculums often determine the types of writing that students complete while in school. The donor’s wish is to fund a writing club that will foster creativity and improvement in personal writing. Students are free to choose their genre and type of writing that will be done while participating in The Write Spot. If they want to work on school related assignments, that is fine, if they want to pursue their own writing endeavors, that is fine too!
We are looking for a lead student assistant who will work closely with the club supervisor to organize weekly meetings and provide overall guidance as well as work with the students from area schools that attend the program. We are also looking for two other assistants who will work with the students directly as they work on their writing pieces over the five weeks. A seminar will be held to provide more details prior to the start of the program.
Please note, applicants will have to be fingerprinted and have background checks completed due to working with minors that come to our campus.
