Judy Weise Memorial Scholarship for Study Abroad

Spring 2025
Judy Weise (Judith A. Weise), Distinguished Professor of English, enriched the lives of many students at SUNY Potsdam for over two decades. The Judy Weise Memorial Scholarship for Study Abroad is for students planning to study abroad, excluding any country where the native spoken language is English. Exceptions may be considered for students studying in Africa and India. To qualify for this award, a student must:

  1. Students must be matriculated at SUNY Potsdam and must have attained sophomore or junior status at the time of the award, with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  2. Demonstrated financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  3. The scholarship must be used within a recognized academic program of study abroad or for independent research for academic credit
  4. First preference to a student pursuing a year-long study abroad program; second preference for a semester-long program; third preference for a short-term program such as summer or winterim
  5. Preference will be given to students with physical disabilities

Recipients must be enrolled full-time, in good academic standing and participating in a study abroad program of either an academic year, semester or summer term.
