Residence Life - Graduate Assistantship (GA)

Graduate Assistant (GA) positions cover $5000 in tuition in both the fall and spring semesters.
There is a stipend of $1250 in both the fall and spring semesters with a service commitment of 20 hours per week when classes are in session.

Description

  • The GA will have general administrative duties such as assist with reception duties, participate in all Residence Life processes and procedures (Housing nights, RA Selection, etc…) and assist with state and department fire safety inspections, education, etc.
  • They will help Live-In Professional staff complete all department functions and assist with other duties as assigned.
  • The GA will be required to start on 7/29/24 and will be done with obligation on 5/31/25.
  • They will be working 40 hours a week during opening, closing, and training sessions but 20 hours a week when classes are in session.
  • They will be required to attend and help facilitate Professional Staff Training, Resident Assistant Training, and complete opening/closing responsibilities for the department in both fall and spring semesters.
  • Will receive an on-campus apartment and partial meal plan each semester in additional to the scholarship and stipend.

Required
An earned bachelor’s degree and some experience in a student leadership role is required.
Previous experience in Residence Life is preferred (i.e. Resident Assistant).
Must be available to complete all work responsibilities during business hours (8:00am-4:30pm) in addition to some evening and weekend responsibilities.

In addition, this position will be expected to possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
The successful candidate must be matriculated into a graduate degree program.
