Crane Family Endowed Scholarship for Math & Science Education

The Crane Family Endowed Scholarship for Math and Science Education was established in 2012 by Shirley and Irving Crane during Shirley’s 50th reunion year at SUNY Potsdam. Irving and Shirley created this scholarship to say thank you to SUNY Potsdam for the excellent education that Shirley received at Potsdam more than 50 years ago, not only through her course work but also involvement in several clubs and organizations. The recipient of the Crane Family Endowed Scholarship for Math and Science Education must be:

  1. A full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a program in math or science education
  2. Must have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  3. The scholarship is to be awarded to a “rising junior” (chosen at the end of the student’s sophomore year for the following semester)
  4. The recipient must have earned an overall GPA of at least 3.0
  5. Must have exemplary character and demonstrated potential to become an exceptional math or science teacher.

The scholarship shall be renewable; that is, the recipient shall continue to receive the scholarship each year until graduation, provided that he or she maintains an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
