Weatherup-Holland Teachers Scholarship

The Weatherup-Holland Teacher Scholarship was established by the family in 2015 to honor the Holland and Weatherup ancestors who were early graduates and teachers, as well as those recent family members who have graduated from Potsdam. To be eligible for the Weatherup-Holland Teachers Scholarship, a student must:

  1. Be a declared Early Childhood/Childhood Education major
  2. Be a resident of St. Lawrence, Jefferson or Franklin County (in order of preference)
  3. Be a sophomore, junior or senior
  4. Show potential to be an exceptional teacher in the opinion of the School of Education and Professional Studies faculty
  5. Preference shall be given to students with financial need, and students who are the first in their families to go to college (first-generation students), and students interested in teaching in New York State’s North Country region, and students involved in activities that enhance the quality of their learning experience, especially if the activity is related to the teaching profession.

The scholarship will be renewable; that is, the recipient will continue to receive the scholarship each year until graduation, provided that he or she maintains a 3.0 overall GPA and continues to be enrolled in the Early Childhood/Childhood major.
